Last week the SIMOS Indiana team participated in the 13th annual Million Meal Marathon at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This one-day event gathered over 1,100 volunteers to pack meals for Indiana food banks.
It’s a tough time for food banks as more families are needing help than ever before. The meals included macaroni and cheese dinners and rice casseroles. These easily prepared meals are cooked by adding boiling water and can feed a family of four.
“We had a fun time at this event, it was a great opportunity to support the Indiana community while bonding as a team”, said Jamie Kleppel, Recruitment Manager for SIMOS. “Many Indiana families don’t know where their next meal is coming from this holiday season, so being able to help those in need is a heartwarming feeling.”
SIMOS came on as a contributing sponsor for the Million Meal Movement, providing financial support for food supply and team members to pack meals. A fun-filled activity while giving back to the community resulted in a successful event of packing over 280,000 meals.
