SIMOS Cares partners with NAMI Mid-Ohio for local event

June 19, 2023

Mental health continues to be at the forefront of people’s priorities, especially after the impact of the pandemic.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Mid-Ohio hosted a 5K, StreetFest and Car Show to raise money and awareness to ensure their programs and services are available to provide help and hope to those in need. Nami’s mission is to provide advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can live better lives.

Our SIMOS team wanted to help raise funds and awareness for this important mission by hosting a booth at the Street Festival. We helped connect people with meaningful work as well as providing an art therapy activity for children, including painting sun catchers and coloring pages.

It was an extremely successful event that raised over $65,000 for NAMI Mid-Ohio so they can continue to provide free support groups, classes, and presentations to the public and those affected by mental illness.

“There were so many great organizations that participated with a good turnout. It was great to see so many organizations participate. We loved connecting with the people and letting the community know that there is support out there for them” said Ester Nibert, a Field Recruiter for SIMOS who participated in the event.
